Commuters hit with 3.8% rail fare rise

This week, commuters faced a 3.8% increase in rail fares, as well as a 4.8% increase in bus and tube journeys. This was originally set for December, but the government had capped rail fare increases in 2022, which delayed the rise in prices until March to allow commuters to buy flexible and season tickets at the existing rates.
