Signaller had insufficient data prior to cross near-miss
We are sharing this article with you, which talks about a train travelling from Norwich to Standsted, at nearly 75mph almost hit two cars at a level crossing, a safety report said.
The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) said a signaller "granted permission... without realising [a train] was approaching".
Network Rail will implement a ‘new national procedure' for assisting signallers to make decisions at crossings. Work has already begun to improve safety at this crossing and there is extra training taking place, plus improved processes to help signallers make safer decisions when allowing someone to cross.
