Headcorn Land Slip

On behalf of Keltbray Group, we were required to attend the site of a land slip at Headcorn in Kent where the railway embankment had moved undermining the HV cable route and potentially undermining the track formation.

The client implemented 24 hour monitoring and enabling work commenced immediately. Working closely with the local stakeholders we commenced the construction of a temporary road surface, welfare and working platform at the site of work. A temporary cess retention was designed and installed to ensure no further damage was caused to the High Voltage 11,000V cables and route with all works being carried out during switch outs.

We then began the construction of the piling mat for Keltbray Group to work from whilst installing sheet piles for the railway embankment. Temporary drainage was installed to ensure the water from the railway and the surrounding land kept flowing away from the already waterlogged area to reduce the risk of further slips. Following the sheet pile installation we benched and back filled the affected area ensuring a compacted final product installed to the design issued by TGP.

All works were carried out within a very sensitive environment and most importantly without incident.
