Hither Green PSP

On behalf of Balfour Beatty Rail, we were awarded the contract to construct the foundation and all associated civil work for the new Hither Green PSP, located within the existing Hither Green substation compound.

Far from a simple shutter up and pour foundation, this particular site and designed works were fairly complex with multiple different aspects. Including cable route works, GRP palisade fence, drainage, road plate installation and parking space construction, hardstand area construction and the extension / modification of the existing substation earth farm.

The PSP foundation itself was also complex in its nature. Channels for ground route were required to be formed and cast as well as what was designed to be a two pour process becoming one bigger pour, this due to extremely tight deadlines for when the actual PSP unit was to be landed. Our ground workers and form workers put in plenty of long days to ensure we delivered the complete pour on time.

The remaining associated civil work again became slightly more of a challenge once the PSP unit was landed. Our site teams worked diligently around the new live PSP and cables with plant and bulk materials to deliver a top quality product that on completion has been praised and highlighted by Balfour Beatty Rail and Network Rail post handover.
