Northfields Depot, London

As part of the Piccadilly Line Upgrade project Northfields depot sidings has been extended with an additional three siding roads to stable additional new longer rolling stock. Balfour Beatty Integrated Track Team installed the track and Seva Rail Services constructed all the associated walking routes, hand rails, gates , access steps, lighting foundations and cable containment.

The walking route was a bespoke design of precast foundations with GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) grating secured to it and GRP hand rails. The design was chosen due to its reduced concrete and therefore reduced carbon emissions and the long design life of the GRP grating and hand rails.

The site was rail locked and therefore all materials and plant deliveries had to be meticulously planned and delivered by engineering train. The majority of the work was completed during weekdays with access for staff through the operational depot via authorised walking routes.

The work was completed to programme without any delays, accidents or incidents.

An incredible job by our team as always, delivering a safe and accurate job. Thanks to all involved!
